Review Collection Widgets: Review Tab and Write a Review Button

Turn website visitors into reviewers with widgets that collect feedback directly from your site.

Some widgets do more than show reviews - they actively collect them too. These widgets include a WhatsApp button that lets visitors write reviews without leaving your website. It's a powerful way to increase review volume while building trust.

Before you start: You need at least 5 positive reviews (4 - 5 stars) in the last 12 months to activate collection widgets.

Review Tab widget

The Review Tab is a floating side panel that displays your best reviews and includes a "Write a Review" button. It combines social proof with review collection in one floating widget.

Getting started:

1.     Go to Share > Widgets in your portal.

2.     Click Review Tab.

3.     Use the Expand/Collapse toggle to preview the open and closed states.

4.     Adjust the controls, then copy your embed code.

What you can customise:

Position and header:

•       Panel Position - Place the tab on the left or right edge of your page.

•       Header Mode - Show your rating, review count, and channel metrics. Or use text ("Our customers say...").

Look and feel:

•       Style - Original (Hellopeter branded) or Transparent (custom colours).

•       Colours - Font, border, background, and star colours.

•       Logo - Show or hide the Hellopeter logo.

Content:

•       Number of Reviews - Display 10, 20, or 30 reviews in the panel.

•       Anonymous Reviewers - Hide names if you prefer.

•       Review Channels - Hellopeter, Google (if connected), or both. Keep at least one selected.

Write a Review button:

•       Show CTA - Enable to display the "Write a Review" button (on by default).

•       Button Colour - Customise the background colour (default WhatsApp green).

•       Text Colour - Customise the text colour.

Why use the Review Tab:

•       Floating position means it never blocks page content.

•       Visitors see reviews and a clear call-to-action in one place.

•       Encourages review submission at any moment during their visit.

•       Always accessible - they can close and reopen it anytime.

Tip: Position the tab on the right if your page has left-side navigation, or on the left if navigation is on the right.

Write a Review Button

The Write a Review Button is the simplest collection tool. It's just a button (no reviews displayed). Click it, and WhatsApp opens so visitors can submit feedback. Use it when you want to collect reviews without showcasing existing ones.

Getting started:

5.     Go to Share > Widgets.

6.     Click Write a Review.

7.     Toggle between Desktop and Mobile to see how the button looks on different devices.

8.     Customise and copy your embed code.

What you can customise:

Placement:

•       Placement Mode - Choose Inline (button flows with your page content) or Floating (fixed position at bottom-left or bottom-right).

•       Position - If floating, choose left or right side.

Button appearance:

•       Button Text - Type custom text (max 40 characters). Default is "Write a Review".

•       Button Colour - Change the background (default WhatsApp green).

•       Text Colour - Change the text colour to ensure readability.

Why use the Write a Review Button:

•       Minimal, non-intrusive design.

•       Perfect for pages where you can't fit a full review widget.

•       Ideal for high-intent pages (product pages, checkout) where you want one clear action.

•       Floating mode means it follows the visitor as they scroll.

Tip: On mobile, use floating mode. Visitors can click the button without scrolling back to the top. On desktop, inline mode works well within your page flow.

How the WhatsApp review flow works

When a visitor clicks "Write a Review" on either widget, here's what happens:

9.     WhatsApp opens on their phone (or WhatsApp Web if on desktop).

10.  A pre-populated message appears with a link to your business review page.

11.  They complete the review process through Hellopeter.

12.  The review appears on your Hellopeter profile and in your portal under Reply.

This flow is seamless for visitors. They don't need to download an app, create an account, or navigate to a separate site.

Note: WhatsApp must be installed on their device, or they'll be prompted to download it. This is standard for WhatsApp flows.

Review Tab vs Write a Review Button

Choose the widget that fits your strategy:

Use Review Tab if you want to:

•       Build social proof by showing existing reviews.

•       Give visitors the option to write a review (not force it).

•       Create a persistent presence that encourages exploration.

•       Showcase multiple channels (Hellopeter + Google reviews).

Use Write a Review Button if you want to:

•       Focus purely on review collection.

•       Keep the design minimal and non-intrusive.

•       Drive visitors to WhatsApp without distraction.

•       Use custom button text that fits your messaging.

You can also use both on the same website. Place the Review Tab on your homepage (to build trust) and the Write a Review Button on product pages (to drive conversion).

SEO Review Page (bonus collection widget)

If you want to create a dedicated reviews page optimised for search engines, use the SEO Review Page widget. It displays all your reviews in a full-page format with structured data for Google. It also includes a "Write a Review" button.

Customising the WhatsApp button

Both collection widgets let you brand the WhatsApp button to match your site.

Change the button text:

In the Write a Review Button, update the text field to something more specific:

•       "Leave feedback on WhatsApp"

•       "Share your experience"

•       "Tell us what you think"

Keep it short (max 40 characters) so the button doesn't become too wide.

Change colours:

Pick a button colour and text colour that match your brand. The default green is WhatsApp's official brand colour, but you can customise it if you prefer a different look.

Warning: If you change the button colour, make sure text remains readable. Use a colour checker to test contrast.

Embed code formats

Both widgets support HTML/JavaScript and iframe embedding.

HTML/JavaScript (recommended):

•       Better for SEO (Review Tab displays reviews on your page).

•       No CSS conflicts.

•       Works everywhere.

iframe:

•       Use if your site has strict security policies.

•       Fully isolated.

Copy your chosen format and paste into your website code.
