Your business profile is the public face of your company on Hellopeter. Complete it to build trust and help customers find you.
Your profile information appears on your Hellopeter business page, in search results, and on review invitations. Customers see it before they decide whether to trust you with their feedback. A complete, professional profile helps you attract more reviews and build credibility.
This guide walks you through adding your logo, description, industry, social links, and contact details so you look your best.
Access Your Profile
Click Profile in the sidebar.
You'll see your profile split into three main sections: Basic Information, Online Profiles, and Contact Information. Each section has an Edit button.
This section shows your public identity on Hellopeter.
To edit:
1. Click Edit on the Basic Information card.
2. Upload a logo (optional but recommended). Click the avatar area to choose an image. Your logo should be a square image, ideally 500×500px. Maximum file size is 5MB, and it must be an image file (JPG, PNG, WebP, etc.).
3. Enter your display name. This is how you appear on your profile. Keep it short and recognizable (e.g., "Sarah's Salon" or "TechFix Solutions").
4. Add a description. Write 1–3 sentences explaining what your business does. This helps customers understand your industry at a glance. Example: "We provide IT support and managed services for small businesses across Johannesburg. We specialise in cloud migration and cybersecurity."
5. Select your industry. Choose your main category from the dropdown (e.g., Insurance, Retail, Professional Services).
6. Choose subcategories. Select relevant tags that describe your business more precisely (e.g., if you picked Insurance, you might select "Car Insurance" and "Home Insurance"). You can pick multiple subcategories.
7. Click Save to publish your changes.
Tip: Use clear, jargon-free language in your description. Customers scan quickly - get to the point fast.
Why your industry and subcategories matter
Your industry and subcategory selections control where you appear across the entire Hellopeter platform and how you are scored.
AI scoring - Hellopeter's AI reads every customer review your business receives and scores you across 5 service themes specific to your industry (see [AI Insights](../analytics-insights/ai-insights.md) for a full breakdown). These are not generic categories - they reflect what customers in your sector actually talk about (e.g., Insurance themes include Claims Handling, Communication & Responsiveness, Agent Quality, Pricing & Premiums, Repair & Service Provider Quality). Each theme gets a score out of 5 with a colour label, and these combine into an Overall AI Score.
Overall AI Score bands: Excellent (4.5-5), Great (3.5-4.4), Average (2.5-3.4), Poor (1.5-2.4), Terrible (0.5-1.4).
What appears on your public profile:
• Overall AI Score with a colour badge
• 5 Theme Scores, each with a colour label
• AI Summary - a paragraph describing what customers are saying about your business
• Top Strengths and Key Concerns with explanations
• Popular Mentions - clickable keyword tags of topics customers discuss
• vs Industry Average - whether you score above, below, or at the industry average on each theme
Industry rankings - Hellopeter ranks businesses within each industry. Customers browsing industry pages (e.g., "Best in Insurance") see businesses listed and ranked by their Overall AI Score. To appear in rankings, you need to actively reply to reviews and have received 12 or more reviews in the last 12 months.
Customer comparison tools - On industry pages, customers can sort businesses by each service quality theme. If a customer cares most about "Support Responsiveness," they can sort the entire category by that metric and see who ranks highest.
Industries with sub-scoring-groups - Three large industries have sub-scoring-groups: Retail, Automotive, and Financial Services. If your business falls within one of these, you compete at two levels: within your specific sub-scoring-group (e.g., Online Shopping) on sub-group-specific themes, and across the whole parent category (e.g., Retail) on broader parent themes. You are scored separately at each level with different themes, different competitors, and different benchmarks. Your portal includes a context toggle to switch between these views.
Tip: Choose your industry and subcategories carefully. They determine which scoring group you belong to, which 5 themes you are scored on, and where customers find you. If your business operates across multiple sub-scoring-groups within Retail, Automotive, or Financial Services, you will be scored independently in each one.

What Happens After You Save

Your logo also appears on email and SMS invitations you send, so a recognizable logo helps customers recognise your brand in their inbox.
Editing Best Practices
• One section at a time - When you edit one section (Basic, Online, or Contact), the Edit buttons on the other sections become disabled. Finish editing one before moving to the next.
• Cancel to revert - If you click Edit and change your mind, click Cancel to discard changes without saving.
• Required vs. optional - Only your display name and industry are required. Everything else is optional, but a complete profile builds more trust.
• No character limits - Your description can be as long as you need, but aim for 2–4 sentences for readability.
